When planes fly over Mike Burns’s car, they might just get lucky enough to catch the cheery greeting painted on its roof: A big “Hi!” surrounded by flowers. Many years ago, Burns was a bartender with a drug and alcohol problem. But after being hit by a drunk driver (and spending a month and a half in a coma), he discovered his identity as a performer, artist, and teacher. Burns shares his inspiring story and tells us why a UT professor called him “an example of a superhero.”
