Don't Panic Syrup

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ounces dried kava (an herb native to the Pacific islands; available in natural products stores and online)

    2 ounces dried skullcap (an herb native to the Eastern U.S.; available in natural products stores and online)

    2 ounces dried valerian (an herb native to Europe and Asia; available in natural products stores and online)

    6 cups water

    ~1 1/2 cups sugar (or dehydrated cane juice)

PREPARATION

  • Add herbs to water, simmer on low heat for about an hour, or until reduced in half.

    Strain liquid and add sugar in a 1:2 ratio (about 1 1/2 cups sugar to about 3 cups liquid). Stir thoroughly and store in corked glass bottle or jar.

    Dosage: 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon every 15 to 45 minutes during times of acute anxiety or panic. Do not take more than 6 tablespoons in 12 hours.
