Heart Disease and Avocado

Hosted by Dr. Steven Rosenblatt

Dr. Steven Rosenblatt
For once holistic and conventional medical practices converge. Both Dr. Rosenblatt and Dr. Goldberg agree that avocados are an excellent source of monounsaturated fat, which is thought to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL). In general, it is the cholesterol in animal fat, not the fat itself, that harms the body. Monounsaturated fats like coconut oil, olive oil, flax seed oil, and, yes, avocado, may be high in calories, but they are still heart-healthy.
